Water City, Berkeley

Water City, Berkeley is a painterly film about post sea level rise adaptation in port cities around the world, including maintaining leisure time, and intellectual life and culture when the sea has entered the city. The film pictures a submerged post-nation state capture-the-flag game and a live band, “The Kingdom of Not”, cheerleaders cheering in the water and features dancers Jose Navarrete and Debby Kajiyama, among others.  The film is a poetic response to a global dilemma of climate change.

I am a multi-disciplinary avante guarde artist with a passionate interest in climate change issues and its impact on global societies. I am making an epic project: Men and Women in water Cities, which takes the form of video/film chapters, large format photography, and large scale paintings. I am motivated by the painterly relationships between painting and film. The influence of abstraction is evident in my films, and the influence of film is present in my paintings.
