DESCRIPTION

2009년, 이글루익 에스키모의 최고참 레이첼 우야라숙은 그녀가 태어날 때 받았던 이름을 가진 조상들을 불러낸다. 레이첼은 이러한 매개행위가 이 세계로 그들을 되돌아오게 할 수 있다고 믿는다.

In 2009, Rachel Uyarasuk, the elder of the Inuit community of Igloolik, evokes the ancestors whose name she received at birth. She explains how this transmission ensured their return among the world of the living.

 

 

크리스티앙 멜리오 Christian Merlhiot

크리스티앙 멜리오는 프랑스 부르주에 있는 프랑스국립예술원을 졸업했으며 로마에 있는 빌라 메디치에서 레지던시 작가로 활동하면서 첫 번째 장편영화 <전염병의 씨앗>(2003)을 만들었다. 이후 30편이 넘는 영화를 만들었으며 학교에서 영화를 가르쳤고, 2011년에는 교토에 있는 빌라 쿠조야마에서 레지던시 작가로 머물면서 <슬로우 라이프>를 만들었다.

Christian Merlhiot

Christian Merlhiot studied at the French National Institute of Fine Arts in Bourges from 1981 to 1987. In 1995, he made a residency at the Villa Medicis in Rome and shot his first feature-film: Les Semeurs de peste (The Sowers of Plague) released on screens in 2003. Since then, he has directed more than 30 films, taught cinema in art schools, and was in residence during 6 month at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, in 2011, where he shot the film Slow Life .
