DESCRIPTION

평원 모음곡 서곡은 ‘라이브-인스톨레이션(live- installation)’ 이라는 장르를 창안하기 위해 실제로 열린 그룹 전시가 끝난 후, 반쪽의 전시장이 비워진 화이트 큐브 갤러리 안에서 촬영되었다. 영상 안의 사운드는 오프닝의 박수소리와 엔딩의 배경음악을 제외하고는 현장에 설치된 음향 기기들에 의해 라이브로 재생된 것이다. 카메라는 현장에서 발생하는 사운드들에 즉흥적으로 반응하고 나선형 방향으로 전시장에 설치된 전시물들을 차례로 방문한다. 또, 마치 유령처럼 화이트 큐브 갤러리 안의 구석과 구조를 탐험하고 전시장 바닥을 질주하면서 완전히 철수되기 직전 전시장의 환경들을 연주한다.

Plain Suites Overture is categorized as ‘Live Installation’, existing without audience, displayed and recorded in a venue where the half of the space is empty. This is because it was part of group exhibition, but all other works were evacuated after the exhibition period was over. The background music of video works is played on various sound equipments which are actually used at the gallery site. Except the sound of applaud (opening scene) and ending scene music, all other sound was recorded at the gallery site. The camera reacts to the sound of improvised occurring in the field. It visits the exhibits arranged in the exhibition space into a spiral direction and explores the nooks and structure like a ghost in the White Cube gallery and gallop on the exhibition floor. The camera plays the scene of the gallery before the exhibits are evacuated there.

최해리

서울 출생인 최해리는 학부와 대학원에서 모두 미술을 전공했으며, 현재 시각 예술가로 활동 중이다. 경기창작센터(2013)와 International Studio & Curatorial Program(2009, 뉴욕) 아티스트 레지던시에 참여하였다. 그는 전시라는 영역과 그것들을 기록하는 방식 사이에서 호명할 수 없는 형식들을 통해 작업의 외연을 확장해 나간다.


 

CHOI Haeri

Born in Seoul, CHOI Hae-ri majored in art at the University. Choi received both BFA(2001) and MFA(2006), currently works as a visual artist. CHOI has participated in Residency Program: Gyeonggi Creation Center (2013) and the International Studio & Curatorial Program (2009, New York). CHOI is expanding the work scope through the formats cannot be the roll-call between exhibitions and recording ways.
