도미니크 가뇽

영화감독, 설치작가이자 퍼포먼스 아티스트로서 도미니크 가뇽은 2007년부터 인터넷에서 발췌한 비전통적인 이미지들로 작업을 하였다. 영화의 특이성에 질문을 던지며 형식적인 프레임을 벗어난 작품을 선보인다. 이러한 새로운 방식을 통해, 그는 영화 제작의 관례적인 양식과 이미지의 소비에 대해 문제의식을 던졌다. 1996년 이래로, 그는 신화, 이미지 제작의 한계와 검열, 예술 작업과 관객 사이의 중재 위치 등 다양하고 폭넓은 주제를 다뤄왔다.

Dominic GAGNON

As a filmmaker, installation and performance artist, Dominic Gagnon works with non-orthodox images taken from the Internet since 2007. In addition of questioning the specificity of cinema, his work breaks conceptual and formal frames. By these twists, his practice challenges the institutional and cultural modalities of production and consumption of images. Since 1996, his work insists on various themes: mythologies, marginal production of the image and its censorship, the conditions of mediation between the work of art and its spectator.
