DESCRIPTION

우리가 기계와, 혹은 인간이 아닌 동물과 진정으로 소통할 수 있을까?  우리의 의인화하는 경향, 인간 이외의 것에 자리를 내주는 데에 대한 두려움, 대인관계에서의 어려움이 연결과 이해의 가능성과 신뢰라고 불리는 그 무언가를 완전히 배제하진 못할 것이다.

Taking its title from a sound design maxim and using it as a conceit to grasp the desire for connection, See A Dog, Hear A Dog probes the limits and possibilities of communication. In this liminal cinematic space, the fear of conscious machines is matched with a desire to connect with nonhuman entities.

 

  

 제시 맥클린

제시 맥클린은 미디어 아티스트이자 교육자로, 인간의 행동과 관계, 특히 간접적인 이미지를 통해 보여지고 관찰되는 것에 관한 깊은 호기심이 동기가 되어 연구를 해왔다. 그녀의 작품은 로테르담 국제영화제, 베니스 영화제, 트랜스미디알레 등을 포함, 여러 박물관과 갤러리, 영화 페스티벌 등에서 선보여졌다. 아이오와 대학교의 ‘영화와 비교 문학'과에서 조교수로 재직 중이다.
 
 

 

  Jesse MCLEAN

Jesse McLean is a media artist and educator whose research is motivated by a deep curiosity about human behavior and relationships, especially as presented and observed through mediated images. Interested both in the power and the failure of the mediated experience to bring us together, McLean's work asks the viewer to walk the line between voyeur and participant. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature at University of Iowa.
