DESCRIPTION
Winter Morning Immersion is a personal narrative, short video work, written in the style of creative non-?fiction. It documents a personal, private experience through text and sound recording, combining this with publically available, stock imagery sourced directly from the
Internet. Its subject, one mans encounter with a dying animal, is approached in a reflective
manner, with past events reconstructed through text and found imagery. Memories are both
stored in and represented by technology, as the author struggles to re-?inhabit the virtual
space of collectively shared history.

알렉스 위테커 알렉스 위테커의 작업은 개인적인 경험, 낭만적인 모습, 기억 그리고 절반은 소설적인 내레이션의 재구성으로 이루어진다. 알렉스는 일반적으로 프로젝트를 기반으로 작업을 하는데, 그것은 개인적인 기억을 이용하면서, 설치와 불길해 보이는 현장을 종합해 가는 것이 작업의 첫 발걸음으로 삼는다. 그는 현재 어느 정도 낭만적인 주제를 기반으로 천천히 작품을 만들어가고 있다. 어느 정도 낭만적인 주제라는 것은 잃어버림과 ‘그대로 두다’ 그리고 부조리극 형식이 드러나 있는 것이다

Alex Whittaker Alex Whittaker’s work explores private experiences, romantic gestures, memory and the reconstruction of semi-fictional narratives. He generally works in a project-based format, using a personal memory as a starting point for a work to create total installations and ominous mise-en-scenes. He is currently making works loosely based around a quasi-romantic theme, with ideas relating to loss, ‘letting go’ and presentness in the form of absurdist theatre. |
