DESCRIPTION

열 병합발전소에서 뿜어져 나오는 연기를 소재로 삼아 자아와 주변환경에 대한 의식을 명상의 형식으로 묘사하였다. 관객은 영화의 마지막 부분에 이르러서 스토리의 환경이 드러나기 전까지 은유의 조각들만으로 스토리를 이해하려 애쓰게 된다.

Inspired by the smoke out of a cogeneration plant, the film depicts awareness of oneself and of the environment in a form of meditation. The story setting is revealed only at the end of the film, so only the metaphoric clues are provided for the audience until the end.

 

ARTIST’S STATEMENT 

“인공적인 환경과 자연 그대로의 환경”은 나를 표현하는 주된 요소이다. 지속적으로 변화하는 주변환경에서 질서를 발견하는 것이 내 창작의 실체다. `“인공적인 환경과 자연 그대로의 환경”에 대한 우리의 지각적 경계가 무너져가는 지금, 나의 주변환경에서 이 두 가지 사이의 거리를 측정하고자 한다. 나는 환경 예술가가 되려는 것은 아니다. 내 주변에서 아름다움을 발견하려 할 뿐이다.

I deal with “the build and the natural environment” as a major components of my world. My art practice is a way of finding order in evolving surroundings. While our boundary of perception between the build and the natural has become unclear, I try to measure the distance between them in my surroundings. I do not intend to be an environmental artist or to make a social commentary. I simply find beauty in my surroundings.
