DESCRIPTION
홍콩은 세계에서 가장 밀집된 도시 중 하나다. 밀집도가 심한 만큼 새로운 마을은 공동묘지와 인접해있게 된다. 삶의 세계와 죽은 사람들의 공간이 공존하는 가운데, 홍콩 주민들은 계속해서 이동의 이동을 거듭한다. 그들은 최종 목적지를 찾기 위해 기다리는 중이다.
Hong-Kong is one of the densest cities in the world. As there is no much space available, new towns are adjacent to the cemeteries. These days in Hong-Kong the world of the living coexists with the one of the dead. Meanwhile, Hong Kong inhabitants move from place to place. They are waiting for a final displacement.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
그의 주된 흥미는 인류 사진과 영화로 현대 도시의 풍경과 인류의 장소를 탐험하는 것이다.
His main interest is to explore with film and photography mankind place in the landscape and in the contemporary city.

마뉴엘 알바레즈 디에스트로 마누엘 알바레즈 디에스트로는 스페인 출신의 비주얼 아티스트다. 보스턴대학에서 예술사를 공부했으며 영화와 사진 작업을 통해 동시대 도시 경관에 대한 우리의 시각적 이해를 새롭게 하는 작업을 주로 추구해왔다. 그의 작품들은 수많은 건축 잡지나 전세계 전시공간을 통해 공개되었다. 그는 미국, 프랑스, 모로코, 레바논 등 전세계에 고루 거주하다가 현재는 영국에 머무르면서 <마가렛 대처의 마지막 나날들>이라는 신작에 몰두하고 있다. |
Manuel Alvarez Diestro Manuel Álvarez-Diestro (1972) is a Spanish visual artist. He holds an Art History degree from Boston University, Massachusetts, and in his work he explores city landscapes around the world with the objective of revitalizing our visual appreciation of the contemporary city through photography and film. His work has been published in numerous architecture magazines and exhibited in different international art venues. He has lived in the USA, France, Morocco, South Africa, Algeria, Lebanon and Egypt. He now lives in London, UK. He is currently working on a new film entitled The last days of Margaret Thatcher. |
