DESCRIPTION
이 작품은 악몽에 관한 것이다. 나는 한국 사람들에게 악몽에 대한 사적인 인터뷰 음성과 드로잉을 수집했다. 그리고는 이들 각각의 이야기를 바탕으로 하는 하나의 공통된 꿈을 표현하기 위한 기계 장치를 만들었고, 이렇게 모여 만들어진 환상이 주는 가짜 안락함에 대해 이야기 하고 싶었다.
This work is about the nightmare. I collected interview voices and drawings about personal nightmare stories form Korean people. And I made the machines for each story to express a common sense of dream and fake comfort formed by joint Illusion
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Through my works I investigate phenomena caused by the disconnection between purpose and means. I focus that this relation is thought as simple and clear, but sometimes a factor make it complicated. To express this in my work, I make machines that have simple mechanism, but they do complex movement. One of my current interests is about "stories". I had rejected the essence of narrative things because I think smallest components of stories are to connect ends and means. But if we connect these factors in the wrong way, what will happen?
