DESCRIPTION

8명의 영화감독이 제주행 비행기에 몸을 싣는다. 그들이 받은 특명은 제주 강정마을을 각자의 시선으로 카메라에 담아내는 100일간의 JAM 즉흥연주. 4년전 해군기지유치지역으로 선정된 후, 언론이 4.3 사건에 비유할 만큼, 이분된 마을은 극심한 갈등을 겪고 있다. 프라모델 마니아인 해군 출신 최감독은 해군기지사업단장에게 항공모함 프라모델을 선물하기 위해 사업단을 방문하고,  정감독과 음악영화를 찍고 있는 밴드 “밤섬해적단”은 이곳에서 자신들이 종북세력임을 커밍아웃해야만 하는 상황에 처하는데..... 눈물겨운 노력에도 불구하고 기지유치 찬성측 주민들은 이들에게 차갑게 등을 돌린다..

Gangjeong Village located at the southernmost part of Cheju Island’s Seogwipo City is in the true sense a‘breathtaking land of water’. In this film, eight directors independently yet collaboratively orchestrate a clever and humorous “mission” at this place where the groundwork for building a naval military base is in progress.

제주도 강정마을에 해군기지가 들어선다는 소식에 영화인들이 뭉쳤다. <쇼킹패밀리> 경순, <택시블루스> 최하동하, <경계도시> 홍형숙, <오월애> 김태일, <히치하이킹 > 최진성, <원웨이티켓> 권효, <별들의 고향> 정윤석, <섬의 아이> 양동규 등 총 8명의 감독이 그들이다. 8명의 감독들은 각자의 시선으로 강정마을에 대한 개성 넘치는 에피소드를 생산해냈으며 회의에 회의를 거듭한 끝에 8개의 시선을 하나의 톤과 리듬으로 조율해나갔다. 마치 음악의 잼 퍼포먼스를 닮은 즉흥성으로 이 프로젝트에 역동성을 부여하면서 결코 가볍지 않은 주제를 유쾌하게 변주하며 더 많은 이들에게 제주 강정마을을 알리는 촉매제가 될 것이다.

Jam Docu GANGJEONG

The consortium of directors collaborating on <Jam Docu KANGJUNG> all are active in various sectors of Korea’s independent film scene. Among their accolades, HONG Hyung-sook’ s <Reclaiming Our Names> (1998) was awarded Best Korean Documentary at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), CHOIHA Dong-ha’s <High Hill> (2003) was screened at both BIFF and Cinéma du Réel in France, and KIM Tae-il won the Woonpa Award at BIFF with <Annyong, Sayonara> (2005). Also, JUNG Yoon-suk's film <Non-fiction Diary> won the BIFF Mecenat award at the 2013 Busan International Film Festival and NETPAC Prize at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival.
