ARTIST'S STATEMENT

아이를 낳는 순간 여자는 자신의 이름을 잃고 누군가의 엄마가 된다. 그로부터 오는 혼란은 자신을 엄마로 만든 존재를 외면하게 하고, 엄마에게 외면 받은 아이는 자신을 낳은 여자에게서 외면 당하는 그 순간을 평생 또렷하게 기억할 것이다. 그리고 그 아이가 여자라면 아이는 언젠가 또 누군가의 엄마가 될 것이다. 나는 서로의 존재 때문에 성인 여자와 여자 아이에게 우울장애가 생기는 찰나를 보여주고 싶었다. 엄마가 형광등을 갈기 위해 의자 위로 올라서는 순간, 아이는 위태롭던 그 순간의 불안을 잊지 못할 것이다.

As a woman has a baby, she loses her name and becomes someone’s mother. It would cause confusion for her and consequently she would come to turn away the child who made her a mother. The child would clearly remember the moment of rejection. If the child is a girl, she might become a mother. I wanted to show the moment that both a woman and a little girl get a depressive disorder due to the each other’s existence. The child will never forget the anxious time when the mother stands precariously on a chair to change the light bulb.

 

정은비 서울예술대학교 사진과를 졸업한 후 현재 국민대학교 대학원 영상디자인과에서 공부 중이다. 프로젝트 정오의 팀원으로 다섯 편의 단편영화제작에 참여했고, 프로젝트 정오는 두 번의 개인전과 두 번의 그룹전 경험이 있다. 현재 독립영화상영관 ‘옥인상영관’에서 프로젝트 정오의 영화들이 상영 중이다.

JUNG Eunbee She received a BA in Photography from Seoul institute of the arts and is doing her MA in Graphic Design at Kook-min University. She is a member of the Noon Project team and participated in making five short films. Noon Project had two solo shows and was part of two group shows. Currently, Noon Project is showing self-produced movies in Ok-in cinema.
