DESCRIPTION
태백의 무성한 풀은 석탄의 흔적을 뒤덮은 지 오래였지만, 50년이 된 할머니의 여인숙에 모여드는 이들은 마치 검댕 묻힌 옛 광부처럼 얼굴이 없었다. 평화롭다기엔 무언가 빠져나간 듯 퍼석한 도시. 아직도 산 어느 귀퉁이를 파면 진득한 검은 것이 묻어나올 것만 같았다.
The overgrown grasses of Taebaek have covered the traces of coal for long but the faces of the guests who gather at my grandmother’s 50-year-old inn leave no trace of the old sooty miners. The city seems more brittle than peaceful, as if something was missing. It feels like something black and sticky would still pour out of the corner of hills when excavated.
