혁명'을 주제로 한 영화 몽타주를 생각하자마자 나는 즉시 영화 속 히스테리와 공포의 순간들을 떠올리지 않을 수 없었다. 웅장한 방 안에서 끊임없이 움직이는 돈 많고 아름다운 사람들. 충성. 문과 창문 너머로 들려오는 '폭도'들의 소리에 귀를 기울이며 극도로 신경이 곤두서 있는 상류층 사람들. 그림자와 횃불. 보석을 숨기는 여자들.    

When thinking about a film montage with the theme of REVOLUTION, I immediately thought of film moments of HYSTERIA and FEAR. Rich beautiful people inside grand rooms fidgeting. Royalty, upper classes being extremely nervous, hearing ‘the mobs’ outside the doors and windows, shadows, torches, women hiding jewels – about to lose their minds.

 

트레이시 모팻 

1960년, 호주에서 태어난 트레이시 모팻은 대학에서 시각 커뮤니케이션을 전공했다. 그녀는 1987년 첫 작품 <나이스 걸 Nice Coloured Girls>로 국제적인 관심을 끌며 등장했고, 이후 <어둠 속의 비명: 전원의 비극 Night Cries: A Rural Tragedy>(1990)과 장편 데뷔작인 <신들리다 Bedevil >(1993)가 각각 칸 영화제 경쟁부문에 진출했다. 또한 뛰어난 사진작가이기도 한 트레이시 모팻의 작품은 전 세계의 전시회를 통해 많은 대중에게 소개된 바 있다.

 Tracey MOFFATT

Tracey Moffatt is an Australian artist who primarily uses photography and video. Born in Brisbane in 1960, she holds a degree in visual communications from the Queensland College of Art, graduating in 1982. Her works are held in the collections of the Tate, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, National Gallery of Australia, and Art Gallery of New South Wales.
