리우 지아인은 1981년에 베이징에서 태어났다. 베이징 영화 아카데미에서 석사과정을 이수 중이던 스물세 살 때, 데뷔작 <옥스하이드>를 만들었다. <옥스하이드>는 베를린 영화제에서 국제영화평론가협회상, 홍콩 국제 영화제에서 골든 DV상을 받는 등 다수의 영화제에서 수상했다. 현재 그녀는 베이징 필름 아카데미에서 대본 쓰기를 가르치는 교수로 재직 중이며, 그녀의 삼부작 가운데 마지막 작품인 <옥스하이드 III>를 준비하고 있다.

Liu Jiayin was born in Beijing in 1981. At age 23, she made her debut feature Oxhide while a Master’s student the Beijing Film Academy. Oxhide has won several prizes including the FIPRESCI award at Berlin Film Festival, Golden DV Award at Hong Kong International Film She is currently a professor of screen-writing at the Beijing Film Academy, and is developing the final part of her trilogy, Oxhide III.
