DESCRIPTION
중국 무성영화 속 “신여성”의 모습을 연구하는 사색적 여정을 다룬다. 중국 무성영화에서 파생된 아카이브 필름 푸티지와 인터타이틀(intertitle)을 사용, 중국 무성영화 속 여성 묘사의 가부장적인 관점을 탐구한다.
New Woman is a meditative journey that investigates the look of the “New Woman” in Chinese silent screen. Through using archival film footage with intertitles also derived from the Chinese silent films, the film explores patriarchal perspectives in the portrayal of women in Chinese silent cinema.

리타 츠 홍콩에서 태어나고 자란 리타 츠는 그래픽 디자인으로 커리어를 시작했다. 이후 밴쿠버의 사이먼프레이저대학교에서 영화를 전공하고 예술과 문화를 부전공하여 순수예술 학사를 취득했다. 졸업작품인 EastBound (2004)는 많은 영화제에서 선정되었고 캐나다국립영화위원회에서 수여하는 노먼 매클래런 상을 수상했다. 홍콩국제영화제에서 몇 년간 다양한 직책을 맡은 뒤, 최근에는 토론토의 요크대학교에서 영화제작 전공으로 순수예술 석사를 취득했다. |
Rita TSE Rita Tse, born and raised in Hong Kong, started her career in graphic design. She then earned a BFA in Film with a minor in Art & Culture Studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. Her graduation film, EastBound (2004), was selected for a number of film festivals and was given the Norman McLaren Award offered by the National Film Board of Canada. After having worked in different positions for the Hong Kong International Film Festival for a few years, she recently completed her MFA in Film Production at York University in Toronto. |
