Artist's Statement

정성 들여 차를 우리고 마시는 한 장면에 차가 주는 신체적 효과에 심취한 사람들, 두 사람의 아름다움에 대한 다른 생각, 그리고 차를 즐기는 행위가 가진 상징적, 사회적 의미를 찾으려는 사람의 대화가 공존한다. 우리가 감각적이고 내재적이라고 생각하는 미에 대한 인지, 취향 등을 한 발짝 떨어져서 바라보며 그것에 부여된 다른 가치들, 그에 대한 양가감정 등을 다루려 했다. 

On this one scene of people brewing and drinking tea with a great elaboration, some try to find the beauty in their idea and some other find symbolic and social meaning involved in it. This work is an attempt to contemplate on different values and desires cast on the allegedly inherent perception of beauty, taste by looking at them from a bit of distance.

런던 골드스미스 대학에서 다큐멘터리 전공으로 석사학위를 받았다. <불편한 식사>, <God Will Take Care of It…?>등의 단편 다큐멘터리를 연출했다. 영상예술 연구와 제작을 병행하고 있다.

SEOL Suan got her master’s degree in Screen Documentary at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has made short documentaries including Complicated Order, God Will Take Care of It…? , She currently makes video works and pursues research in Film and Media.
