DESCRIPTION

1969년, 독일의 한 비디오 갤러리의 주인인 게리 슘은 얀 디베츠에게 난로에서 불이 타는 것을 녹화한 비디오 작품, <벽난로로서의 TV>를 제작해달라고 의뢰했다. 작가는 한때 벽난로가 했던 우리 삶의 중심 역할을 어떻게 텔레비전이 대체했는지에 대해 표현했다.

In 1969 Gerry Schum, the owner of a German video gallery, commissioned Jan Dibbets to produce the work 'TV as a Fireplace', for which Dibbets made a video recording of a fire burning in a hearth. Dibbets made a statement about how television had taken over the central role in our lives that the open fireplace had once played.
