DESCRIPTION
이 작품은 자동차 여행에 대한 것으로, 풍력 발전소와 대서양을 횡단하는 수중 통신 케이블 등과 인접한 네덜란드 북부의 구글 데이터 센터로 향하는 순례기를 담았다. 작품 제목은 네덜란드의 개념 예술가, 얀 디베츠의 사진과 비디오 연작에 바치는 헌사이다.
‘Road-trip to the Dutch mountains’ is a journey by car. The video is a pilgrimage to the site of a Google data centre that is being built in Northern Netherlands, near wind turbines, power plants and submarine transatlantic communications cables. The title pays tribute to a series of photographs and video by Dutch conceptual artist Jan Dibbets*.

미힐 반 바켈 미힐 반 바켈은 예술 대학에서 자유 표현을 공부하기로 선택하기 이전에 천문학과 심리학을 다년간 공부했다. 영화 및 비디오 제작과 더불어 조각과 인터랙티브 멀티미디어 설치 미술품 등을 제작한다. 이러한 작품들에서 그는 사진과 비디오의 기본적인 토대에 디지털 애니메이션 기술을 결합한다. 비디오 및 설치 미술품들은 페스티벌, 국장, 갤러리, 박물관 등에서 국제적으로 선보여졌다. 1966년 네덜란드 두르네 출생. 로테르담에서 거주하며 활동 중이다.

Michiel van BAKEL Michiel van Bakel studied astronomy and psychology for several years before he chose for free expression at art school. Van Bakel has made films and videos as well as sculptures (bronze, steel, plastics) and interactive multi-media-installations. In these he combines the elementary foundations of photography and video with digital animation techniques. While his approach is technical, his work focuses on people in their surroundings, often resulting in a poetic reality. The video works and installations are shown internationally at festivals, theatres, galleries and museums. Born 1966 in Deurne, The Netherlands. Living and working in Rotterdam. |
