DESCRIPTION

이 비디오에서는 외부 세계에 대한 작가의 내적인 비전과 자각이 공간, 장소, 소리에 대한 추상적인 명상의 형태로 결합한다. 작품 속에서 이미지와 소리는 지속적으로 변화한다.

In this video, Cho's internal visions and his perception of the outer world come together in an abstract meditation on space, place and sound. Natural landscapes are pushed to the edge of abstraction through layering and other forms of manipulation, with an emphasis on the flow of vertical lines. Images and sounds are in a constant state of transformation. Beneath the surface, there is a potential for a calm that is never quite reached.

 

    

 조승호  

조승호는 1959년, 부산에서 출생했다. 홍익대학교에서 그래픽 아트를 전공으로 예술 학사와 석사 학위를 취득했고, 뉴욕대학교에서 비디오 아트 전공으로 석사 학위를 받았다. 그의 비디오 설치 미술품들은 뉴욕 현대 미술관(MoMA), 삼성미술관 리움, 로스엔젤레스 국제공항의 톰 브래들리 터미널에 영구 소장되었다. 뉴욕에 거주 중이다.
 
 

 

 CHO Seoungho

Seoungho Cho was born in 1959 in Pusan, South Korea. He received his B.A. and M.A. in Graphic Arts from Hong-Ik University, Korea,1998 and an M.A. in video art from New York University, 1992. Cho's video installations have been selected for permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Samsung LeeUm Museum of Modern Art, Korea and Los Angeles International Airports' Tom Bradley Terminal. He lives in New York.
