“한국에 일하러 가고 싶지 않아?” 이 한마디는 마리아가 오랫동안 꿈꾸던 탈출의 기회였다. 그리고 마리아가 한국의 미군 클럽으로 취업하기 위한 2년의 여정이 시작되었다.
“Do you want to work in Korea?” Maria has long been dreaming of this moment when she met a talent scout. That was the beginning of twenty-six-year-old Filipina, Maria’s two-year journey into a particular sex industry in South Korea mainly catering to American soldiers stationed there.

이고운 이고운은 1997년부터 방송 다큐멘터리 연출자로 활동하며 다양한 다큐멘터리를 기획/연출하였다. 현재 다큐멘터리 영화제작사 R&R 필름을 설립하여 다큐멘터리 영화를 제작하며 대학에서 다큐멘터리 및 실험영화 교육을 하고 있다. 지난 십여 년 동안 한국의 제국주의적 팽창을 경험하며 한국이 아시아의 최대 가해 국가가 된 현실을 자각하게 되었다. 아시아 여성의 성을 가장 적극적으로 소비하는 한국인의 역사적 기원을 추적하는 다큐멘터리 작업들을 하고 있다. |
LEE Kowoon Born in Seoul, Ko Woon Lee graduated from San Francisco Art Institute with Filmmaking MFA. She worked as a documentary producer for a TV station in South Korea and now directs documentary films and teaches film classes as well. Ko Woon Lee is a producer of R&R Films and directs documentaries tracing Korean history about the links between the sexual exploitation of women and militarism. |
