DESCRIPTION
우리는 각자 다양한 발의 크기를 가지고 있지만 과거 누군가의 발 크기가 측정의 표준이 되어 1피트로 정해졌습니다. 표준과 같은 당신의 발 크기는 1피트이고 나의 발은 0.77피트입니다. 우리는 같은 곳에서 출발해서 같은 속도로 한 발씩 걷지만 우리가 걸으면 걸을수록 나와 당신의 거리는 점점 멀어집니다. 나는 당신에게 가 닿기를 바랐습니다.
1ft is the standard. We have different sizes of feet. You are 1ft. I am 0.77ft. I walked with you at the same place but I was getting behind as I stepped. I hoped to reach you.

김민정 언어유희 사이에서 시작된 김민정의 작업은 16mm 필름의 물질성을 연구하면서 거리와 길이, 시간 단위 등 표준 측량과의 관계에 대한 질문으로 옮겨왔고, 점차 매체와 프로젝팅 환경이 시간과 갖는 관계, 빚과 갖는 관계에 대한 방향으로 진행 중이다. 70회 에든버러 국제영화제를 비롯하여, 브뤼셀의 라쥬 도흐 필름 페스티벌, 아테네 국제실험영화제 등 다수의 영화제 경쟁부문에 초청되었고, 캐나다의 앤티매터 미디어 아트와 위니펙 언더그라운드 영화제와 같은 여러 영화제와 미술관 공간에서 16mm 필름을 상영했다. 54회 미국 앤아버 영화제와 13회 서울국제실험영화제에서 신인작가상과 35회 블랙 마리아 영화제에서 디렉터스초이스상을 수상하였다. |
KIM Minjung Starting from the body and word play, Kim Minjung's work has shifted to questions about relationships to standard measurements such as distance, length, and units of time in the process of studying the materiality of 16 mm films and gradually developed in the direction of the relations of the media and projecting environments to time and light. She has been invited to competitions in numerous film festivals including the 70th Edinburgh International Film Festival, L’Âge d’Or Festival(Brussels), and Athens International Film + Video Festival and screened 16 mm films at diverse movie festivals and gallery spaces including Antimatter [Media Art] and the Winnipeg Underground Film Festival in Canada. She is the recipient of prizes including the Tom Berman Award for Most Promising Filmmaker at the 54th Ann Arbor Film Festival, JungWoon Award at the 13th Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul, and Director’s Choice Award at the 35th Black Maria Film Festival. |
