Artist's Statement
현실적인 등장인물들 사이의 비현실적인 네러티브를 가지는 이야기에 바탕을 두고 있는데, “작동-13개의 검은 구슬 <Operation-13 black beads>”이라는 제목을 가진 비디오작업은 전체 프로젝트의 네러티브에서 한 부분을 담당하게 될 작업이다. 비디오에 등장하는 13개의 검은 구슬은 스스로 움직여서 서로 부딪히게 되고, 그 부딪힌 힘으로 다른 구슬과 부딪히고 스스로의 움직임을 전달하게 되는데, 스스로 움직이는 상황 혹은 그렇게 보이는 상황과, 그로 인해서 생겨난 힘의 전달되는 상황을 보여주고 있다.
Titled “Operation-13 Black Beads,” this work will take a part of the narratives of the overall project. The 13Black Beads in the video move spontaneously to collide with one another to roll another way to collide with other beads and transfer their own movements. By doing so, they are showing their spontaneous movement or something that appears as spontaneous movement, as well as the transfer of forces created by such movements.

뮌 2001년에 뮌(Mioon)이라는 이름으로 아티스트 듀오를 결성한 김민선과 최문선은 독일 쾰른 미디어 예술대학과 뒤셀도르프 미술대학에서 수학한 후 독일 쿤스트 뮤지엄 본(Bonn), 쿤스트 페어라인 코스펠트, 코리아나미술관, 아르코미술관 등에서 개인전을 개최하였고, 미디어시티서울, ZKM, 리버풀비엔날레에, 일본ICC, 국립현대미술관, 부산비엔날레 등 다수의 전시에 참여하였다. 초기에는 주로 ‘집단 군중’이 가지는 유기적인 생성과 소멸 그리고 그것의 사회적 의미에 초점이 맞추어 있었다면, 2000년대 후반 이후에는 군중을 이루고 있는 개인의 내밀한 의식의 흐름이나 개인이 맞닥뜨리는 사회적 시스템과 규제, 그 주위에서 반응하는 삶의 방식에 대한 다양한 해석을 시도하고 있다. |
MIOON Mioon is made up of two artists, Kim Min-sun and Choi Moon-sun. They have held solo exhibitions at places such as Kunstmuseum Bonn (Germany, 2005), Coreana Museum of Art (Korea, 2014), Milan Super Studio (2011), Arko Art Center (2017) and participated in events including the Busan Biennale Sea Art Festival (2008) and the Seoul Media Biennale (2008), ICC Japan, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. Through their works, Mioon provides social commentary in contemporary landscapes as embodied by the masses, the collective, and the spectacle of a society that symbolizes the age of the network media, as well as a diversity of issues faced by individuals inhabiting this backdrop. Their artwork actively draws invisible social systems and their resultant meanings into context, and from a critical perspective can be read as visual interpretations of cultural texts on cities, crowds and individuals.
