Artist's Statement

멀리서 사람들이 지나간다. 금세 이 쪽에서 저 쪽으로 이동하더니 이내 사라진다. 이 쪽과 저 너머 사이의 거리는 사람의 차원을 넘어 하루살이나 돌의 차원에서는 어떤 모양이 될까? 사람의 시공간은 상대적인 관점에서 어디쯤 위치해 있을지를 상상하며 카메라가 납작하게 만들어 버린 시공간들을 채집, 가공하거나 연출하여 여러 관점의 시공간이 공존하는 풍경을 만든다. 

People pass by from a far distance. They move from here to there, one by one, and all of the sudden, disappear. How much distance would be between here and there in the dimensions of a mayfly or a stone beyond the human boundary? Multiple perspectives of time-space coexist in this landscape with an installation of captured, edited, and created images that are flattened by a camera, to navigate human’s time-space among the relativity. 
 

 

    

황유미

황유미는 영상, 사진, 설치 작업을 통해 시공간을 새롭게 편집하여 관찰자와 대상 사이의 새로운 관계를 구축하는 데에 관심을 두고 있다. 도시의 풍경을 다룬 <Beyond the Borders>(The Crypt Gallery, 2017), 무용가와 협업한 <Rhythmic Osmosis>(Limehouse Town Hall, 2016) 외 단체전에 참여하였고 공간291 신인작가 지원전(2018)으로 첫 개인전 <세로의 수면(水面)>을 열었다. 
 

HWANG Youmee

HWANG Youmee works across video, photography and installation, to create a new relationship between the observer and the object with a notion of nonlinear time-space. Some works include <Beyond the Borders>(The Crypt Gallery, 2017), a group show where she deals with a cityscape and <Rhythmic Osmosis>(Limehouse Town Hall, 2016) in which she collaborates with a dancer. Youmee Hwang had the first ever solo show <Standing Surface of Water> for Space291 Emerging Artist Exhibition(2018).
