DESCRIPTION

동경대 미학과를 졸업한 백남준은 이후 독일과 미국을 중심으로 예술작업을 한다. 그 과정은 물론 모든 예술가들이 그렇듯 고뇌와 갈등과의 투쟁의역사 였다. 이 작업은 1956년 백남준의 졸업논문인 < 쇤베르그 연구>를 찾는 과정을 담고있다. 현재 동경대 도서관의 공식적 입장은 논문을 잃어버린 상태이다. 동경대 도서관을 비롯해 백남준의 일본에서 활동의 거점이었던 동경의 와따리움 미술관방문, 백남준의 전문가 인터뷰 등으로 구성되어 있다. 2016년 와따리움 미술관의 기획전에 백남준의 논문일부가 전시되었다는 증언을 새롭게 밝히고 있다.

After receiving his B.A. in aesthetics at the University of Tokyo, Paik Nam June was based in Germany and the United States for his artworks. Like all other artists, he struggled with anguish and conflict. This work is in search of a thesis on Arnold Schoenberg, which was written by Paik Nam June for graduation in 1956. His thesis is officially lost at the library of the University of Tokyo. More specifically, this work contains scenes filmed at the library of the University of Tokyo and the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art, which was another base of Paik Nam June in Japan, and an interview by an expert on Paik Nam June.
It also reveals new evidence that in 2016, part of his thesis was displayed in an exhibition at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art.

경험의 과정이 빠르고 단순해 가는 시대에서 무엇을 관찰하고 자신의 경험 과정을 어떻게 표현하고 담을 수 있을까 고민하다 다큐멘터리를 찍기 시작하였다. <하늘에 간 박물관>(2009), <서울역>(2013), <옥포조선소 >(2015),<키들랏 타히믹 의 대나무카메라 >(2017) 등의 장편 다큐멘터리를 만들었으며, 공동체 상실에 관한 다큐멘터리를 촬영 중이다. 현재 중앙대학교 예술대학 공연영상창작학부 공간연출전공 부교수 로 재직 하고 있다.

In the age when the process of experience is fast and simple, I began to observe what I was going to do and how I could express my own experience. He made a feature documentary such as The Museum Going to Heaven (2009), Seoul Station (2013), The Okpo Shipyard (2015), and Kidlat Tahimik 's Bamboo Camera (2017) . Currently, he is an associate professor at the Chung-Ang University College of Art's Department of Performing Arts.The director was first drawn to documentaries after his long pondering over what to pay attention to and how to express his experience in a world where experience is fast-changing and simplified. He produced feature documentaries, such as <Museum in the Sky (2009)>, <Seoul Station (2013)>, <Okpo Shipbuilding Yard (2015)>, <Bamboo Camera of Kidlat Tahimik (2017)>, and is now working on a documentary about loss of community. He is also an associate professor in Theatre and Film Design, School of Performing Arts and Media, College of Arts at Chung-Ang University.
