DESCRIPTION

퇴직 공무원 강창식은 수년 전 뇌출혈로 쓰러진 부인 나길순과 불법체류자인 재중동포 간병인 유수옥과 함께 살고 있다. 어느 날, 나길순에게 욕창이 생기더니, 잘 낫지 않는다. 나길순의 상태가 좋지 않은데도 유수옥은 주말에는 꼭 쉬어야 한다며 외출을 나가고, 강창식은 유수옥에게 남자가 생긴 사실을 눈치 챈다. 어느 날, 유수옥이 비자 때문에 위장결혼을 하겠다며 일을 그만두겠다고 말하자, 강창식은 자신과 결혼 하자고 제안한다. 강창식이 결혼 선언을 듣고 딸 강지수, 아들 강문수, 며느리 이지영이 모두 모였다. 가족 회의는 합의점을 찾지 못하고 점점 저마다의 상처를 드러낸다.

Gang Chang-sik, a retired civil servant, lives with his wife, Na Gilsoon, who was struck by a cerebral haemorrhage a few years ago, and her caretaker, Yu Soo-ok, a Korean Chinese woman and illegal immigrant. One day, a bedsore develops on Na Gilsoon’s body, which does not seem to heal properly. Even through Na Gilsoon is in poor shape, Yu Soo-ok insists on taking time off on weekends and goes out. Gang Chang-sik realises Yu Soo-ok has found a romantic interest. Some time later, Yu Soo-ok decides to quit her job in order to enter a sham marriage so that she can get a new visa. Upon hearing this, Gang Chang-sik suggests they get married. Gang Chang-sik’s daughter Jisoo, son Moonsoo and his wife Lee Jiyoung all raise objections. At the family meeting, they fail to reach an agreement and only end up drudging up old wounds.

영상 작업은 최근에 VR을 비롯하여, 극영화, 다큐멘터리 등 다양한 장르의 작업을 하고 있다. 작품들은 서울국제뉴미디어페스티벌, 전주국제영화제, 서울국제여성영화제 등 국내 유수의 영화제에서 소개 되었다. 2017년 <동백꽃이 피면>은 제38회 청룡영화상 단편부문 노미네이트 되었다.
