ARTIST'S NOTE

<려인, 꿈을 꾸는>은 VHS, 16mm필름 그리고 사진 등 아날로그 파편들을 디지털 프레임 위에 재구성하며, 기억의 유령성과 이미지의 불완전한 귀환을 탐구한다. 바닷가에 선 ‘려인’은 특정 인물이 아닌, 기억의 감각이 투사된 상징이다. 서사를 거부한 채 파편적이고 반복되는 장면들은 나선형으로 흐르는 시간 속에 정서적 잔향을 남긴다. 흐릿하고 손상된 이미지들은 오히려 망각의 질감을 드러내며, ‘무엇을 기억하는가, 어떤 기억의 유령과 함께 사는가’라는 질문을 던진다.

‘Ryeoin, The Dreamer’ reconstructs analog fragments—VHS footage, 16mm film and photography—within a digital frame, exploring the spectral nature of memory and the imperfect return of images. The figure at its center, ‘Ryeoin,’ is not a specific person but a symbolic projection of memory’s sensibility. Rejecting narrative, the work unfolds in fragmented, repetitive scenes where time spirals rather than flows linearly, leaving emotional afterimages. Blurred and damaged visuals reveal the texture of forgetting, ultimately asking: ‘What do we remember, and with which ghosts of memory do we live?’
