인류세와 기후위기의 시대. 인류는 지구와 자연을 식민지배한 대가를 치르는 중이다. 초월 인간이 그들을 둘러싼 환경을 바라보듯, 만약 인간이 지구를 ‘생태 지구'로 인식한다면 인류는 이웃한 존재에게 지배자가 아닌 동반자로 다가갈 수 있지 않을까?
(환영합니다) 난초의 행성입니다는 다종민족지학, 보전생태학, 그리고 에코시네마를 아우른 학제간 연구의 결과물로 다각적 접근 방식을 통해 초월인간의 영역에 대한 인간의 편협한 사고에 의문을 제기하고 식물과 인간 사이의 보다 깊은 유대감을 일깨우는 ‘식물 중심의 관점’을 제시한다.

The era of the Anthropocene and climate crisis: humanity is now facing the consequences of its colonial domination over nature. What if humans could perceive the Earth as an 'ecosphere', the way the more-than-humans view the surrounding environment? Could humans be companions of neighbouring species, rather than colonisers?
'(Welcome to) The Planet of Orchids' is a culmination of an interdisciplinary research that weaves together multispecies ethnography, conservation ecology and ecocinema. Through this multifaceted approach, this film presents a 'plant-centred perspective’, challenging typical human understanding of the more-than-human realm and stimulating profound connections between plants and humans.
