ARTIST'S NOTE

자신의 이상에만 빠져 현실을 직시하지 못하고, 외면하는 순간이 찾아오곤 한다. 하지만 그 현실에서 눈을 돌리지 않고 마주할 때에서야 우리는 성장할 수 있다. 이는 낯설고 괴로운 과정일지라도, 결국 언젠가는 찾아가야만 하는 길이다. 자신의 세계는 깨졌더라도 더 넓은 세상을 향한 발돋움이기에 이를 긍정적으로 표현하고 싶었다. 연꽃은 성장을 나타내는 요소이다. 주인공이 점점 자신의 이상 속에 머무르려 할수록 꽃잎이 떨어지지만, 현실을 받아들이고 새 세상에 나갈 준비가 되었을 때 봉우리가 활짝 피는 것으로 표현하였다. 기침소리는 주인공이 자꾸만 연못으로 가게 되는 이유이다. 평소 친구들과 있을 때(현실)엔 갈증을 느끼지만 연못(이상)에 있을 땐 숨을 편안히 쉴 수 있어 더욱 연못에 있으려 한다. 주인공의 얼굴을 비닐 텍스처로 둘러서 아직 이상에 갇혀 있고, 평소에 숨 쉬는 것을 어려워함을 시각적으로 나타내고자 했다. 주변 친구들의 얼굴이 물고기로 보였던 것은 그동안 주인공이 이상에만 갇혀 주변인들을 자신의 친구이자 동등한 사람으로 인지하지 않았기 때문이다.

There are times when we are immersed in our own ideals, unable to face reality, and turn a blind eye to it. However, we can only grow when we face each other without turning our eyes to that reality. Even if this is a strange and painful process, it is a path that must be visited someday. I wanted to express my world positively because it is a step toward a wider world, even if it is broken. The lotus flower is an element that represents growth. The flower petals fall as the protagonist tries to stay in his ideal, but the peak is expressed as blooming when he is ready to accept reality and enter the new world. Coughing sounds are the reason why the main character keeps going to the pond. I usually feel thirsty when I am with my friends (in reality), but when I am in the pond (ideal), I try to stay in the pond more because I can breathe comfortably. The main character's face was wrapped around a vinyl texture to visually show that he is still trapped in the ideal and has difficulty breathing normally. The reason why the faces of the friends around him were seen as fish is because the main character was only trapped in the ideal and did not recognize the people around him as his friends and equals.
