ARTIST'S NOTE

작품의 제목이기도 한 하달HADAL은 해저 가장 깊은 곳의 지층을 의미하는데, 표면으로부터 6,000 미터 이상 깊이에 위치하며, 빛이 전혀 들어오지 않으며, 기압은 매우 높고, 온도는 섭씨 0도에 가깝다. 이러한 특성에서 HADAL이라는 이름이 그리스의 죽음의 신 하데스 및 그의 영역인 하데스(죽음의 장소)으로부터 영감을 받은 것임을 알 수 있다. 칠흑 같은 바다의 어둠 속으로 빠져들게 되고, 바닷속 경험의 지각적이고 감각적 측면이 투영된다. 몸이 떠오르고, 호흡에 집중하게 되고, 빛의 진동 또는 소리의 차단을 통해 깊은 자기성찰이라는 친밀한 경험을 하게 된다. 물 속에서 이렇게 정지된 상태에서 여유로운 호흡의 리듬으로 집중력을 조절하면, 시간 그 자체가 멈추고 몸의 경계가 흐릿 해지는 명상 상태에 이르게 된다. 이 초월적 측면은 프로이트가 분석한 “대양적 느낌(oceanic feeling)”과 연관되어 있다.

Hadal is the deepest stratum of the sea, more than 6,000 meters below the surface, where the absence of light is total, the pressure is really high and the temperature is close to 0ºC. These characteristics are what inspired his name from him in reference to the Greek God of death, Hades, and his domains from him, hades area: place of death. The first part of the exhibition immerses us into this darkness of the sea and reflects about perceptual and sensory aspects of the underwater experience. The buoyancy of the body, the attention to the breath, the oscillating movement of the light or the sound isolation, involve us in an intimate experience of deep introspection. This state of suspension in the aqueous space, controlled from the concentration in a leisurely rhythm of breathing, takes you to a meditative state where it is time itself that is being suspended and the borders of the body are feeling diluted. It is this aspect of transcendence, linked to the oceanic feeling analyzed by Freud, that most interests me trying to reflect in the works.<br />
