  한성필HAN Sungpil

  한성필은 1972년 서울 생으로 중앙대학교 사진학과를 졸업한 뒤 런던 킹스턴 대학교와 런던 디자인 미술관의 큐레이팅 컨템포러리 디자인 (Curating Contemporary Design) 석사를 취득하였다. 다양한 여행과 강독을 통해 실천하는 통찰은 그의 카메라들을 작동시키고, 촬영과 촬영 후 작업들에 의한 최종 결과는 감상자에게 일상적인 이미지를 넘어 대상-재현-인간에 대한 철학적인 화두를 던진다. 개념적이고 사유적인 그의 통합적 작업은 내밀한 감성과 유머, 더 나가 숭고의 미까지 함축하고 있는 다면적인 구조를 지닌다.

  Han Sungpil practices art mainly by means of photography, video, and installations, covering subjects such as environmental issues, originalities, history, and the relation between the real and the represented. He strives to understand the world’s diversity by exploring nature and interpreting mundane worlds that have been sources of his inspiration. This process of philosophical inquiry and artistic representation often includes a sense of humor in a subtle manner, incorporating sublime elements of beauty, the objects and concepts we consider worthy to discuss and enjoy at a seminar or festival of aesthetics. Once his works enter the exhibition hall, they become invitations for the appreciators to explore arrays of philosophical questions, one of the most crucial ones being how we can design an ideal synthesis for the post-contemporary.
