<스시우먼의 노래>는 이영주가 직접 작사, 작곡, 연기를 맡은 노래방 스타일의 애니메이션 뮤직비디오다. 초밥 컨베이어 벨트에 놓인 초밥의 시점으로 가사를 써 아시아 여성에 대한 페티시즘을 비판했다. 작가는 역사적으로 미디어에서 아시아 여성을 이국적인 성적 대상으로 묘사해 온 고정관념에 대해 노래한다. 그녀는 자신을 환상, 가짜라고 주장하는데, 이는 외모가 사람의 정체성에서 오직 한 면 밖에 드러내지 못한다는 사실을 보여준다. 작품의 후반부는 다른 문화와 인종에 대한 사람의 제한된 인식과, 그것이 인류 전체의 역량을 어떻게 한계 짓는지를 비판한다.
Song from Sushi is a music video, which Lee wrote and performed, and is an animated music video in the style of a karaoke song. The lyric is written from the perspective of the sushi served on a sushi conveyor belt, criticizing the fetishism towards Asian women. She sings about the stereotypical depiction of Asian women as an exotic sexual object in media throughout history. She claims herself to be an illusion, a fake, which refers to the fact that the appearance reveals only one side from the whole identity of a person. In the latter half of the video, the song criticizes the limited perception of human mind towards foreigners, different cultures and races, and how this is limiting our capacity as species as a whole.

<스시우먼의 노래>는 서구 남성이 제3세계 여성에게 투사한 상투적인 여성 이미지를 소재로 한, 작가 자신의 일상적 경험에 대한 재서술이다. 회전초밥이 컨베이어 벨트 위를 오가는 식당에서 아르바이트를 했던 작가는 얇게 저며진 생선의 살점과, 상투적 이미지로 납작해져야 했던 자신을 동일시한 영상을 만들었다. 가라오케나 노래방에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 싸구려 뮤직비디오를 제작했다. 동아시아 출신 여성이 경험한 서구와 비서구 사이에서 작동하는 문화적 위계질서를 반영했다.
Based on the image of women projected by Western men onto Third World women, <Song from Sushi> is a re-writing of the artist's own daily experience of being mobilized by that cliché. The artist, who worked part-time at a restaurant where conveyor belts of sushi rolls rolled in and out, made a video in which she identified herself with the thinly sliced flesh of the fish, which had to be flattened into a clichéd image, and made a cheap music video that is commonly seen in karaoke and karaoke. The cultural hierarchy that operates between the West and the non-West is often experienced by women from East Asia through their "relationship" with clichéd images of Asian women and themselves.

Based in the United States and Europe, Young Joo Lee has used animation, drawing, and performance to explore the experiences of the non-mainstream, immigrant, female, and cultural nomad. In her recent video works, she explores the social and political manifestations of notions of the 'other' and 'otherness' in the past, present, and future.
