“우리가 편집하고 있는 것은 역사적 사건이 아니라 이미지입니다.”
1971년 대한민국 성남시에서 ‘광주 사건’(8·10 성남(광주대단지) 민권운동)이 일어났다. 이것은 1960~70년대 한국의 급속한 개발 시대에 강제 이주가 시행되면서 발생한 사건이다. 이 동영상에서는 보이지 않는 사람이 포토샵 프로그램 사용법을 강의한다. 강의에서 전달하는 은유적 이야기는, 조명되지 못하고 묻혀버린 지역의 사건들이 어떻게 숨겨진 힘에 의해 우리의 기억에서 사라지는지를 보여준다.
“What we are editing is an image, not a historical incident.”
In 1971, the “Gwangju incident” happened in Sungnam city, Korea. It occurred due to the execution of forced migration during the fast developmental era of Korea, around the 1960~70s. In this moving image, an invisible person lectures how to use a photoshop program. The metaphorical story of the lecture reveals how unlit and buried local events disappear from our memories by hidden forces.

시리얼타임즈는 컴퓨터 정보 처리에 기반을 둔 미디어아트 팀으로 포스트디지털 세대가 경험하는 동시대 미디어 현상을 탐구한다. 시리얼타임즈의 팀명은 ‘보다(see)’와 ‘동시대성(contemporary)’을 뜻하는 ‘c’와 실시간을 뜻하는 ‘real-time’이라는 키워드를 담는다. 역동적인 현 시대 미디어를 탐구하는 것은 끊임없는 입력과 출력의 반복, 그리고 그 둘 사이의 상호작용으로 인하여 파생되는 제3의 생각들을 계속해서 이어 나가는 행위라고 생각해 근현대 미디어 현상 속에서 은유적인 구조를 찾아낸다. 성남시립미술관, 제주 예술공간 이아, DMZ 캠프그리브스, 대안공간 눈 등에서 전시를 통해 작품을 선보여왔다.
An art collective ‘c.realTimes’ researches contemporary phenomenon experienced by the post-digital generation. The collective is interested in the relationship between media and humans. The name ‘c.realTimes’ is derived from our aim to ‘see’ the ‘contemporary’ in ‘real-time.’ Comprised of three unique individuals from fine arts, engineering, and documentary backgrounds, c.realTimes works as a team of multilateral entities exchanging input and output ideas from distinct perspectives.
