웨드는 지역 민병대에 입대하라는 압력을 받고 이라크 전쟁을 피해 도망쳤다. 핀란드에서의 삶은 순조롭게 시작된다. 그는 직장을 구하고 사회에 적응하기 시작한다. 하지만 핀란드 이민국의 부정적인 결정이 가장 큰 장애물이 된다. 그는 일할 수 없다. 그리고 공부하고 의료 서비스를 받기 위해. 웨드는 이라크로 돌아갈 수 없고 핀란드에 남아 실존적 림보에 머무는 것만이 유일한 선택지이다. 과연 어떻게 될까?
Wed fled the war in Iraq after he was pressured to join local militias. Life in Finland begins well: he gets a job and starts to integrate into society. Negative decisions handed by the Finnish Migration Service become the biggest obstacles. He is prohibited from working. Then to study and receive healthcare. Wed cannot go back to Iraq; his only option is to stay in Finland in an existential limbo. How will this play out?

이라크인 웨드 알-아사디는 핀란드의 난민 시스템에 갇히게 된 자신의 이야기를 들려준다. 그는 관료적 미로를 헤쳐나가려고 최선을 다하지만, 나오는 것이 들어가는 것보다 더 어려워진다는 것을 깨닫게 된다.
In How to Please Iraqi Wed Al-Asadi tells his story how he got stuck in the Finnish asylum system. He tries his best to get through the bureaucratic maze but realizes getting out becomes even more difficult than getting in.

엘리나는 핀란드 헬싱키 출신의 인류학자에서 영화감독으로 변신한 감독이다. 그녀는 이미지를 사랑하지만, 인류학에 대한 그녀의 배경은 종종 그녀의 영화에서 우리 자신의 생각과 습관에 의문을 제기하는 먼 시선으로 나타난다. 엘리나의 단편 다큐멘터리 <베리 따는 법>(2010)은 제67회 베니스 영화제에서 초연되었으며 유럽 영화상 최우수 단편 영화상 후보에 올랐다. 그녀의 영화 '순결과 위험'(2016)은 다큐포인트 헬싱키 다큐멘터리 영화제에서 비평가의 선택상을 수상했다.
Elina is an anthropologist-turned-filmmaker from Helsinki, Finland. She is deeply in love with images, but her background in anthropology is often present in her films as a distant gaze questioning our own thoughts and habits. Elina's short documentary How to Pick Berries (2010) premiered at the 67th Venice Film Festival and was nominated for Best Short Film at European Film Awards. Her film Purity and Danger (2016) received the Critics' Choice Award at DocPoint Helsinki Documentary Film Festival.
