ARTIST'S NOTE

<서신 O>는 건강 센터의 역사와 그것이 이후 게이티드 커뮤니티(Gated Community)로 변화하는 과정을 탐구한다. 이 무빙 이미지는 공공 보건의 복잡하고 변화하는 풍경과 함께 웰니스(Wellness)에 대한 이기주의적이고 사용자 중심적이며 기술 융합적인 이해에 대한 사회적 변화를 표현한다. 또한, 건물 측량사의 도구인 라이다 스캐너와 의학 연구원의 도구인 MRI 스캐너는 동시대의 건강에 대한 태도와 과거의 공공복지 개념과 관련하여 신체의 내부와 외부의 서사를 탐구하는 상호적인 기구로 기능한다.

<Correspondence O> explores the history of a health center and its subsequent conversion into a gated community. This moving-image expresses a social shift in the landscape of public health, emphasizing a more egocentric, user-focused, and technology-infused understanding of wellness. A LiDAR scanner, an instrument of the building surveyor, and an MRI scanner, an instrument of medical researchers, become interchangeable tools exploring the internal and external narrative of the body in relation to contemporary attitudes towards health and past ideas of public wellbeing.

    일로나 사가는 현재 서머셋 하우스 스튜디오의 레지던트 작가로, 스텔리 피커 펠로우십을 받아 작업 중에 있다. 향후 커미션으로는 알바 알토 재단(2024)과 런던 그레이트 오몬드 스트리트 어린이 병원(2026)과 파트너십을 맺은 핀란드 동부 대학교의 발작(Seizure) 연구에 대한 단독 커미션이 예정되어 있다. 최근 전시로는 런던 서펜타인 갤러리의 ‘The Radio Ballads’ 전시(2022)에서 소니아 보이스, 헬렌 캠목, 로리 필그림과 함께 네 명의 커미션 중 한 명으로 참여한 바 있다.

    Ilona Sagar is a current resident artist at Somerset House Studios and is a recipient of the Stanley Picker Arts Fellowship. Forthcoming commissions include Alvar Aalto Foundation (2024) and solo commission with Seizure researchers at The University of Eastern Finland in partnership with Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital London (2026). Recent exhibitions include ‘The Radio Ballads’ Serpentine Gallery, where she was one of four new commissions with Sonia Boyce, Helen Cammock and Rory Pilgrim (2022).
