  이이무라 타카히코Takahiko IIMURA

  이이무라 다카히코(飯村隆彦, 1937~2022)는 일본 실험영화감독의 선구자이자 영화, 비디오, 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 매체의 미학과 기법을 실험적으로 구사한 작품을 발표했으며, 60년대 초 일본 언더그라운드 아트의 황금기인 60년대 초부터 실험영화를 제작하기 시작했으며, 오노 요코, 아카세 가와하라헤이, 나츠유키 나카니시, 츠치방 타츠미와 같은 전위 예술가들과의 협업을 진행했다. 요코 오노 요코, 아카세 카와하라헤이, 나카니시 나츠유키, 무용가 히토카타 타츠미 등 아방가르드 예술가들과 협업했다. 또한 실험영화 제작 상영 그룹 '필름 앙데팡당'을 결성했다. 1960년대에는 구조주의 영화를 제작했으며, 1970년대부터 1980년대에는 영상의 기호론과 관객과의 관계에 관심을 갖고 영상 매체를 적극적으로 활용한 개념 예술에 힘을 쏟았다. 또한, 예술가로서의 커리어를 통해 퍼포먼스 및 설치미술에도 지속적으로 관심을 기울였다.
  
  영상 작품은 뉴욕현대미술관(MoMA), 휘트니 미술관, 앤솔로지 필름 아카이브, 퐁피두 센터 등에서 상영된 바 있다. 이이무라 다카히코 감독은 2022년 7월 31일 세상을 떠났으며, 2023년 베를린국제영화제 포럼 익스텐디드 부문에서 이이무라 다카히코 감독의 작품세계를 소개하는 특별전이 개최되었다.

  Takahiko Iimura (飯村隆彦, 1937-2022) was a pioneering experimental film director in Japan who presented works that experimented with the aesthetics and techniques of the medium across film, video, and performance. In the early 60s, he started making experimental films during the golden age of underground art in Japan and collaborated with avant-garde artists such as Yoko Ono, Genpei Akasegawa, Natsuyuki Nakanishi, and butoh dancer Tatsumi Hijikata. He also formed the experimental film production and screening group "Film Independents". They held the first experimental film festival in the history of individual films in Japan. In the 1960s, he produced structuralist films and in the 1970s and 19080s, he focused on conceptual arts by actively using video media with an interest in the semiotics of video and its relationship to the viewer. Moreover, he continued to work in performance and installation art throughout his artistic career.
  
  His film and video works have been screened at the MoMA Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum, the Anthology Film Archive, and Centre Georges-Pompidou. Director Takahiko Iimura passed away on July 31, 2022, and in 2023, a special exhibition looking at his art world was held at the Forum Expanded section of the Berlin International Film Festival.
