포스터소개

제23회 네마프 포스터 이미지는 리투아니아 출신의 예술가이자 영화감독 에밀리야 슈카르눌리테가 연출한 <사이레노멜리아>(2018)의 한 장면이다. 노르웨이 올라브스번의 NATO 잠수함 기지와 스피츠베르겐섬의 뉘올레순 측지관측소가 있는 북극을 배경으로 한 <사이레노멜리아>에서 작가는 세이렌으로 분한다. 인어로 변신한 작가는 우주와 지하 세계를 유영하며 알려지지 않거나 감춰져 있고 너무 쉽게 잊혀지는 것들을 발굴하고, 인간의 오만한 흔적과 인간 너머의 차원을 드러낸다. 또한 냉전 시대 이데올로기에 대한 반신화이자 물고기, 잠수함, 기계, 어뢰가 합쳐진 사이보그로서 포스트휴먼 신화의 가능성을 제시하며, 인간 중심적 스토리텔링을 넘어 다른 종과 인간 너머 존재가 살 수 있는 지구에 관한 새로운 서사를 상상한다. 포스터 디자인을 맡은 김포도 디자이너는 슈카르눌리테의 영상을 보면서 인어가 바다를 헤엄쳐 나갈 때 표면 위에 잔상으로 남는 규칙적인 파동을 확장의 모티브로 삼아 세 가지 디자인으로 표현했다. 트레일러는 포스터 이미지의 <사이레노멜리아>와 작가의 첫 장편 <매장>(2022) 속 장면을 발췌하여, 올해 네마프 주제인 “안전한 신체의 확장”에 반향하며 슈카르눌리테 스튜디오에서 직접 편집 제작했다. 두 작품 모두 네마프2023 시네-미디어 큐레이팅 포럼의 [장소의 감각, 물질의 그물] 프로그램에서 만날 수 있다.

The poster image for the nemaf2023 is a scene from (2018) by Lithuanian artist and filmmaker Emilija ŠKARNULYTĖ. In , set at the decrepit NATO submarine facility of Olavsvern, Norway, and the Ny-Ålesund Geodetic Observatory on the island of Spitsbergen in the Arctic region, the artist performs as a siren. Transformed into a mermaid, the artist swims through space and the underworld, unearthing the unknown, the hidden and the too easily forgotten, and revealing traces of human arrogance and dimensions beyond humankind. As a counter-myth to Cold War ideology and a cyborg that is a combination of fish, submarine, machine, and torpedo, the work posits possible post-human mythologies, and imagines a new narrative for Earth going beyond anthropo-centric storytelling and allowing for other species and beings beyond humans to live. Kimpodo, who designed the poster, watched a video by ŠKARNULYTĖ and used the regular waves that the mermaid swims through the ocean leaving an afterimage on the surface as a motif of expansion, which she expressed in three types of poster design. The trailer is an excerpt from the artist’s first feature film, (2022), which will be screened with , echoing this year’s nemaf theme, “Expansion of Entangled Bodies,” and was edited and made by the Škarnulytė studio. These works will be screened in the program [Sense of Place, Web of Matter] of the Cine-Media Curating Forum at neamf2023.
