ARTIST'S NOTE

나와 타자는 어떻게 구분되는가.
이번 작업은 감독이 집필한 SF 소설 <은하계 환승터미널 구멍가게> 속 세계와 현실의 역사를 교차시켜, 우리가 세워온 경계가 얼마나 임의적이고도 강력하게 작동해왔는지를 탐색한다.
특히, 소설과 영상을 결합한 실험적 형식을 통해 서사와 시청각 경험의 경계를 허문다. 소설 속 SF 설정과 현실의 역사적 사건은 서로 얽히고 교차하며, 무엇이 허구이고 무엇이 현실인지 분간할 수 없게 된다. 관객은 영상 감상 전후로 소설을 찾아 읽으며 이야기의 또 다른 층위를 완성해 나간다.

How do we draw the line between ‘us’ and ‘the other’? How much must we differ to exclude, and how much must we resemble one another to end hatred?
This work explores how arbitrary and powerful the boundaries we create are, by intertwining historical realities with the director’s own science fiction universe.
Through an experimental fusion of literature and video, the project collapses the boundary between narrative and visual experience. As historical events and science fiction intertwine, the line between reality and fiction dissolves.
Viewers are invited to read the novel before or after the film, constructing their own layered understanding of the story. In this hybrid encounter, we are asked to confront the fragility - and persistence - of the lines we draw to divide ourselves from others.
